Mike has been prepping dinners for the last three days. On Saturday, we went out to the Farmers Market (note: people really clear the way for people in wheelchairs; it's the only way to go to crowded places). We picked up some morel mushrooms, white truffles and green garlic. Tonight, Mike whipped up a lovely Spring pasta with those ingredients. He complimented the main dish with a (Mario Batali) Babbo-inspired dish: seared broccocauli with mint and hot pepper. It was perfect! For those that are curious, the kids ate pasta, plain, no salt or oil in the water. Oi.

Mike, that looks so good. It makes my mouth water. Have you considered opening up a restaurant. I could come up and be your sou chef. And since I now play the ukulele, I could wander from table to table, take requests, and make a few tips, which I'd share of course. . . I have at least four Hawaiin shirts, and could get more. This has got to be the best idea that's come your way since you come home from the hospital. We'd have to think up a good name. . . Le Bon Clayton? or maybe Le Cuisine Clayton. Let me know if I should order my white hat. . .

richard,
Mike's cousins....Douglas and Gordon......both played in a ukelele band......douglas probably more so. (Gordon went into downhill unicycling competition........but that's another story!)
It could be 'le trois claytoni'.... I have the cd for the demo ready (to Mike and Caitlin....I also still have Uncle Pete's Uke from the 30's!!..

We could always go with "Claybones," Mike's med school moniker. Especially if it was an especially meaty type of place.
I have Dads other uke but have no idea how to play--maybe I could do the dancing!!!!
I am sure my Cousin John would do great helping in the kitchen---
that food looked so delicious--let the kids eat plain pasta--all the more for us-

so glad those truffles got used :>)
Having seen Mike's first foray into the kitchen, I am glad he is really into it now!
Happy Anniversary too.
Love, Mom aka Pat
