3/14 PM

Mike has been very quiet today. Apparently he was up in his chair around 5AM (I missed that!) and is now napping in preparation for a (tentative) 1PM gastric tube insertion.

They are also readying to clamp his ventricular drain. Once the vent drain is out, he can be moved out of the ICU and to the floor.

My sister just forwarded a note from her friend Anke (also a physician) who helpfully noted, "the hardest thing for Mike now is to exercise patience with himself." I think that speaks volumes about where we all are right now.

Hello again,
but remember, you both have this great gift right now of extreme 'smarts'. You are going to be able to think and pace your way through this because you are both clever. And you listen, and listen, ....and think...great talents!
Now, of course, your other problem for the future will be that both of those delightful children are also clever......in that lies your downfall....but more of that about 14 years from now.
Much love, angels watching

Dear Caitlin,
I think we used to say to you all, "Patience is a Virtue", it's not one of my strong attributes but i know from experience we all have it in us. This is the hardest time, so please take some time for yourself so that you are able to handle the rest. Just think, you lived through Sister Leonella and Sister Francis Mary, you can do anything!
We continue our thoughts and prayers.
We love you all,
Love,Judie and Mel
